Monsters, demons, old ghosts (and some new ones I've never heard of) are easily conjured up off the top of this ear-opening debut. This shred-master quartet from the Isle of Wight area unveils a very aggressive and somewhat darker side of alternative music. After two years in the development stages, these guys have seemed to have unearthed a source of unlimited energy. Although the mainstream sound of "Sever the Ties" is probably the reference point here, you might be curious about an imaginary friend ("Mushroom Man"), or a look inside the mind of an escaped psychopath ("The Killing Game"). Matt Barfield's powerful and sometimes haunting vocals are rivaled only by Sean Wade's unbridled Jeckyl and Hyde guitar chops. Match that pair with turbo-drummer Chris Price along side mega-bassist Jason Clark, and you have a force to be reckoned with. The band is currently booking club dates, starting with several slots at The Vampire Room. Also plans are already being made for a follow-up album with producer Todd Washburn.

So, if you're feeling a little lethargic and you need a little "pick-me-up," spin this record. But, you might have to sleep with the lights on.
