Why are we reviewing this? Um, the quality and talent of this group demands it. Yeah, right! Actually, its
because Keith is in love with the front cover photograph. What can I say, he's into some
pretty weird stuff.
The first track, "Christian Woman" is incredibly dark and very Danzig-esque, complete with the vocal
deepness that many heavy-metal bands strive to imitate.
The remainder of the CD, however, doesn't quite duplicate the catchiness of the vocals, slow
tempo and harmonics of the first track. It feels like you're on Thorazine, trying to listen to
speed metal.
They also throw in a remake of the Seals and Croft song "Summer Breeze." Why, I haven't
the foggiest. It's really sad for a heavy, dark sounding band like Type O Negative to attempt
(and badly at that) a song which should have been buried in the 60's. It would be like The
Red Hot Chili Peppers appearing on, oh, say, Sesame Street.
The underlining theme is tormented love, from the perspective of seeing your heart, ripped out of your
chest, lying on the floor, cheerfully being stomped by the one you loved.

Alright, I'll get it out right off the bat. The cover is erotic, it is way sexy (surely to raise the eyebrows
of any male). The artwork on the rest of the insert is way cool and truly portrays the music within
the CD. Pretty humorous liner notes, too. The music is exceptionally produced and causes you to
listen to it again and again.
Type O Negative's music has a masculine feel to it; very deep throbing bass drums and slow-moving
bass lines. The CD is long (in time) and actually gets a bit old towards the middle (the songs do sound
a bit alike), but once "Black No. 1" plays you're ready to hear it all again. The song is just plain
awesome.
If you like Danzig, you'll likely enjoy this CD. It doesn't seem like the band really
buys into the image they are projecting. Based on their behavior during the Queensryche and Pantera tours, it seems
pretty clear that they don't. The gothicness of the music, the lyrics, the cover art, and
the band's look is rather eerie though. It would be a dreary lifestyle if they did.
They are getting lots of airplay on the radio, and with opening for Pantera and Queensryche, Type O
Negative will probably make something of themselves.
