Co-founder of Husker Dü, Grant Hart has continued to deliver his buzzing tunage post Dü -ism. Similar
and still remarkable as his hauntingly influential past, Grant Hart and Nova Mob's music are as
compatible as a read in "The Rocket" and a rainy day. You would expect Nova Mob to sound like they
do -- grandeur garage rock.
This second release after the out-of-primt "the last days of pompeii" shows how to paste hooks around
a collage of buzzing distortion glued crudely but suredly on pop construction paper.
The mood swings range anywhere from the overcast of "puzzles" to sunrise beats of "Buddy." "Old
Empire" and "Little Miss Information" perspire from the armpit of basement melodies while "Please
Don't Ask" is just plain cool. Whereas "The Sins of Their Sons" is a faster gut punch, "If I
Was Afraid/Coda" is a great night capper.
Who is going to be the cool local band to learn a cover from this? File this under great listening and
make yourself happy. Go buy this.
