I'm not really into "alternative" (used loosely) music, so my initial reaction was one of unsureness. Now? Damn cool CD! I'll commonly leave it in the CD player, replaying it again, instead of changing it (please keep in mind that the player is right in front me under the monitor!). This CD definitely really grows on you, and I mean grows on you. Marty's drums are great, David's vocals (on most songs) are amazing, and Mike's bass ties everything together like a good bass should.

The trio are from NYC, and their music has been used in a dance performance ("Viral Exchange"), and they are in the video "The Best of CBGB." All of the members have been playing music since they were kids and their musical influences are all over the place (Animal from the Muppets, Keith Moon, Frank Sinatra, Kiss, REM, and Gladys Knight to name a few). In my opinion, it is these orthagonal influences that makes Meow what it is.

"Lumberjack" has a quite danceable groove and fun vocals. The bonus track, a different version of the "The Damage We do" is mellow and rather enjoyable and quite a complement to the first version. A couple of the songs are a little slow for my taste, but you can't expect every song to appeal to everyone. The best song on the CD? "My Marine" for sure. Hilarious! Listen hard to the lyrics, there are many subtle jokes within the song.

Basically, I would suggest that you try and find this CD.
