I'm the only person on planet Earth who hasn't seen Melrose Place. Hey, it's opposite
The Nanny. A woman has her priorities, you know. Dunno much about the show; apparently
Heather Locklear is in it which is all I need to know. So this show has its very own soundtrack. Not
sure exactly why, but it isn't as completely useless as it sounds.
There are 11 songs up for grabs, most of which fall neatly into one of two categories: "Tracks
Featuring Girls Squealing in Perky Voices," and "The Rest."
Ladies first. Wow! Frenté!, Aimee Mann, Sam Phillips, DiVinyls, and Letters to Cleo. Positively
reeks of estrogen, eh? If helium-induced vocals make your toes curl with joy, then this is your lucky
day. If not, pat yourself on the back for stunningly good taste.
"The Rest." Urge Overkill and Dinosaur Jr. both contribute interesting, light-weight tracks ("Back On
Me" and "Blah" respectively). Seed, who had a hit earlier this year with "Stay With Me" return
armed with "Kids...This Is Fabulon," a pleasingly piece of pop. The piece de resistance, of course, is
James. Oddly enough, a three-year-old song ("How Was It For You") was picked instead of one of
their newer, devotion-worthy ditties off of 1994's Laid. Still great, though.
