Here's a surprise: There's a Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics label on this CD. Unbelievable. I
thought everyone who could still hear knew what this band was like. The cover is pretty interesting, what
with "Dad" wearing an interesting belt-buckle, and what must be the antithesis of Marilyn Manson,
figurines of The Beatles on the nightstand.
Produced by Trent Reznor, this CD seems to be an extension of Nine Inch Nails, just done by Marilyn Manson.
It sure doesn't paint a pretty "Portrait of an American Family," with an underlying theme of religious
hate, fears, and distaste for what society pushes on the youth of today.
"Dope Hat" is the most revealing song on this disc, delving into Marilyn Manson's showmanship,
which is mistaken for an act, while it's really the anguish, fear, and darkness creeping out of his head and
into his music and live performance.
"I peek into the hole, I struggle for controlÉthe children love the show, but they fail to see the anguish
in my eyesÉ"
After reading an interview in "Seconds," I figure Mr. Manson won't be around too long, if
he's for real. His persona seems so dark and desperate, that you can't help but figure
him for suicide or drug overdose. Unless, of course, it's all a bunch of shit, put on to make
money. Hmmm, could be. . .
The current line-up of Daisy Berkowitz, Twiggy Ramirez, Madonna Wayne Gacy, Sara Lee
Lucas and Mr. Manson are something to behold. Be sure to catch them live if you can. If not, you may
want to plunk down $12 for the CD.
