Here comes another one. Bewitched is another one of those great driving CDs. Or just sitting in your
house having a beer. Or partying with friends. Or..well anytime is Luna time. The album's first
song "California All the Way" became an instant favorite in my book. This is Luna's second album
and although I have not been able to get the radio stations to play it yet, they are going to because by
the time you read this, Luna will have played at the Jewish Mother at the Beach.
A lot of these songs have to do with relationships and feelings, but Bewitched gives the image of magical
things happening in this great world of ours. The whole album has a beautiful dreamlike quality
that shakes you every now and then just by throwing in some crazy, funky line here and there.
Sterling Morrison, guitarist from the Velvet Underground, makes a special guest appearance on the
album as well as Grasshopper (Mercury Rev) playing the clarinet on "Sleeping Pill." The core
of Luna is: Stanley Demeski on drums and percussion, Sean Eden and Dean Wareham sharing
guitar duty (Wareham sings, too), and Justin Harwood on bass.
The band formed in 1991 and have since toured with others like Screaming Trees, the Sundays,
and the Velvet Underground. When Dean Wareham is asked to reveal the secret charm of Luna's
music, he simply states, "It's better to forget than remember." See what I mean by saying crazy
things every now and then. This album is a definite must get for every collection.
